Description
The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional fishery management councils established by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act for the purpose of managing fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Gulf of Mexico.
States with voting representation on the Council include Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi.

The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council, headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, is one of eight regional fishery management councils in the United States.
